Activities to celebrate War Invalids and Martyrs' Day

A wide range of activities have been held in provinces and cities throughout the country to show gratitude to war invalids, martyrs and policy beneficiary families on the occasion of the War Invalids and Fallen Combatants’ Day, July 27.

A live video conference took place in August Revolution Square, Hoan Kiem district and Truong Son Stick Museum, Ung Hoa district, Hanoi, on the evening of July 22, to honour the heroic martyrs, war invalids, sick soldiers and revolutionary contributors.

The event was attended by Politburo member, Secretary of the Party Central Committee (PCC) and head of the PCC’s Commission for Communication and Education Vo Van Thuong, alongside Secretary of the Hanoi Party Committee Hoang Trung Hai and delegates of other departments and ministries.

*At the same time, the Vietnam Martyrs 'Family Supporters Association, Vietnam War Veterans Newspaper and Pacific Corporation held a programme in Hanoi to honour war invalids and martyrs.
The event was attended by National Assembly Chairwoman Nguyen Thi Kim Ngan, former General Secretary Le Kha Phieu, and former Politburo Members: former Standing Member of the Central Committee's Secretariat Phan Dien, former Defence Minister General Pham Van Tra, Senior Lieutenant General Nguyen Phuong Nam, who is also Deputy Chief of the General Staff of the People's Army of Vietnam.

At the event, NA Chairwoman Nguyen Thi Kim Ngan gave test results to a number of fallen heroes’ families. In addition, the organising board presented gifts, houses of gratitude and saving books to Vietnamese Heroic Mothers and martyrs' families.

* At Au Co Art Centre in Hanoi, the Vietnam Fatherland Front Central Committee, the Department of National Devotees under the Ministry of Labour, Invalids and Social Affairs, Vietnam’s Association of Businesses of War Invalids and People with Disabilities and Hanoi Television jointly organised an art program. The program honours heroic martyrs and heroic Vietnamese mothers, typical examples of war invalids who have participation in national construction work.

On this occasion, the organising board visited and presented gifts at the Centre of National Devotees in the localities and to Vietnamese Heroic Mothers and soldiers.

* On July 22, the President of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Central CommitteeTran Thanh Man visited and presented 50 gifts to policy beneficiaries and revolutionary contributors in Thanh Xuan commune, Chau Thanh district, Hau Giang province and 20 gifts to policy beneficiaries and revolutionary contributors in An Hoi Ward, Ninh Kieu District, Can Tho City.

* On the same day, Tuyen Quang, Bac Kan, Dak Lak, Thai Binh, Nghe An and Quang Nam provinces hosted ceremonies to honour the heroic martyrs and heroic Vietnamese mothers, while visiting and presenting gifts to policy beneficiaries and revolutionary contributors in the localities.
