Traffic accidents decrease in first quarter of 2019

ABO – According to the Tien Giang provincial Traffic Safety Committee, there were 74 accidents claimed 56 lives and injured 39 others, down 42.19 % in the number of cases; 27.27% in fatalities and 49.35% in the number of the injured annually.

According to the committee’s report, four localities experienced reduced rates, including Chau Thanh district, Cho Gao district, Go Cong Dong district and My Tho city. Particularly, Chau Thanh district reduced 72.09% in the case of cases; 52.38% in fatalities and 77.78% in the number of the injured annually.

Two localities in the province reported a traffic fatality increase, including Cai Be district and Go Cong Tay district.

Police reportedly cracked down on 20,915 traffic violations across the province in the first quarter of this year, collecting fines of over 7.4 billion VND.

According to report, traffic accidents involving children accounted for more than 1.35% of cases, deaths and injuries compared to the total number of accidents, the total number of deaths and the total number of injuries in the province.
