Discussing solutions to reduce sustainable poverty

ABO - On February 11, Tien Giang People's Committee held a meeting to discuss solutions to reduce sustainable poverty. Vice Chairman of Tien Giang People’s Committee Tran Van Dung chaired the meeting.

According to the survey, the province has 12,629 poor households, accounting for 2.51 percent of the total households in the province. During 4 years (from 2016 to 2019) the province has focused on poverty reduction, decreasing 12,619 poor households, equivalent to reducing the poverty rate of the whole province from 5.87 percent in early 2016, reducing 2.51 percent by the end of 2019. Particularly, the poor district of Tan Phu Dong decreased from 42.47 percent to 16.33 percent, the average annual reduction rate as 6.53 percent, etc…

In 2020, the province strives to reduce the poverty rate according to the multidimensional poverty line of the province to 2.25 percent of the total number of households in the province. The total budget for implementing projects of the sustainable poverty reduction program in 2020 is allocated more than 56 billion VND by the central.

Vice Chairman of Tien Giang People's Committee Tran Van Dung suggested that all levels and sectors should be public and objective in the review of poor households. Localities need to mobilize and appreciate support funds.

Tien Giang Department of Labor, War Invalids and Social Affairs with the Vietnamese Fatherland Front has submitted a report to the Standing Provincial People's Committee on raising the level of building houses of gratitude and love for poor households and policy families in the near future.
