Addressing the meeting, Director of Tien Giang province Department of Natural Resources and Environment Pham Van Trong said that World Water Day aims to raise public awareness of the importance of water resources and encourage countries to set specific policies on sustainable management of water, particularly fresh water resources.

Tien Giang has underground water reserves that can be exploited for daily life and production, but underground water is not infinite. The over-exploitation will cause significant consequences to the aquifers water and environment. Therefore, protecting water resources is an urgent issue and everyone's responsibility.

At the meeting, Director of Tien Giang province Department of Natural Resources and Environment Pham Van Trong called for the interest and active participation of the whole society in raising awareness and responsibility in management, exploitation, protection, sustainable development of water sources and a sense of initiative before the impacts of the weather.

At the same time, he called for continued implementation of measures to improve and protect water resources; rational, economical and efficient use of natural resources.

After the meeting, the youth union members and soldiers marched on the streets around the My Tho city and implemented clean water supply project for 4 households in the city.
