Workshop to share the result of road traffic safety policy review for children

ABO - On March 12, the Tien Giang province Traffic Safety Committee organized a workshop to share the result of reviewing road safety policies and mobilize the support of related agencies and organizations to strengthen the road traffic safety policies for children.

At the workshop, delegates were introduced an overview of global traffic safety context and Vietnam, the situation of ensuring traffic safety for children in Tien Giang province and My Tho City in recent years; the result of world studies on traffic safety; traffic safety policy; introduction about traffic safety project for children in My Tho City, the survey results on traffic safety at primary schools under the project.

The Traffic Safety Project in My Tho City with the sponsorship of Botnar Foundation through the International Red Cross and Red Crescent Association, Global Road Traffic Association and the support of the Child Relief Organization was implemented in two years, from 2018 to 2020. The project aims to reduce the rate of child casualties due to road traffic accidents in the school area in My Tho city.

According to the report of the Tien Giang province Traffic Safety Committee, in 2018, there were 327 traffic accidents in the province, killing 226 people, injuring 192 people, in which traffic accidents involving children occurred 29 cases, killing 14 children and injuring 15 children.
