Chairman of the PPC Le Van Huong examines the salinity level at Sau Au canal

ABO - On February 25, Chairman of Tien Giang People's Committee (PPC) Le Van Huong with leaders of Provincial Department of Agriculture and Rural Development and other related sectors examined the salinity level at some points and Sau Au canal - extension from Chau Thanh district to Tan Phuoc district.

Accordingly, the salinity level measured at the above time in Cau Ruou bridge, Long Dinh commune is 2.39 gam/liter; Tam Hiep communal sewer gate - the river side area as 1.61 gam/liter, the inside of the field as 1.99 gam/liter.

At the canal bridge 1 - the eastern route of Sau Au canal adjacent to Long Dinh commune nd Tam Hiep commune is 1.89 gam/liter. At Cau Sau Au area – the section of Sau Sau canal in Tan Lap 2 commune is 1.63 gam/liter; the canal bridge 3-Sau Au canal in Tan Lap 2 commune is 1.29 gam/liter; Nguyen Van Tiep canal - Rach Dao bridge section is 0.73 gam/liter.

Particularly in the area of canal Bridge 1 - Tan Lap commune 1, the salinity level was measured at the foot of the bridge as 1.7 gam/liter, the wharf area as 1.59 gam/liter. In general, at the monitoring points and areas at the morning of February 25, 2020, the salinity level measured has been somewhat reduced.

Chairman of the PPC Le Van Huong asked the Provincial Department of Agriculture and Rural Development to continue monitoring the salinity level on Sau Au canal route, and immediately implementing feasible solutions that were calculated such as closing unnecessary sewers to regulate water sources; at the same time, building temporary dams to prevent saline intrusion on some planned routes in order to create conditions for preventing, discharging and reducing salinity inside the Nguyen Tan Thanh canal dam.

In addition, Chairman of the PPC also requested to accelerate fresh water source to Sau Au canal route, where the pumping station is located, in order to supply water to Binh Duc Water Plant, Dong Tam Water Plant, to treat and supply water for the people.
